SABnzbd Not Connecting to Easynews: Step-by-Step Fix Guide

If SABnzbd displays a connection error while attempting to access Easynews servers, the issue is often related to incorrect server settings, network configuration, or third-party interference. This article outlines steps to identify and resolve the problem.

1. Verify Server Configuration

Double-check that SABnzbd is configured with the correct server settings for Easynews:

  • Server Address: news.easynews.com

  • Port: 563 (SSL) or 119 (non-SSL)

  • SSL: Enabled (for port 563) or Disabled (for port 119)

  • Username and Password: Use your Easynews account credentials

  • Connections: Set the number of connections to match your Easynews plan

2. Restart and Reconnect

Restart your computer, modem, and router to clear potential connection issues. After rebooting, re-open SABnzbd and check the connection again.

3. Disable VPNs and Proxies Temporarily

If you are using a VPN or proxy, try disabling it temporarily. Some VPN services may interfere with how SABnzbd communicates with Easynews servers.

4. Adjust Firewall or Antivirus Settings

Make sure your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking SABnzbd or the configured port. Add an exception for SABnzbd and the specific port you are using (563 or 119).

5. Use an Alternative Port

If the issue persists, try switching to another supported port:

  • Alternative SSL Ports: 563 or 443

  • Alternative Non-SSL Port: 80

Always pair the port with the appropriate SSL setting.

6. Contact Support

If you continue to experience issues, please provide the following details to Easynews support:

  • The email address linked to your Easynews account

  • The version of SABnzbd in use

  • A copy of the error message shown in SABnzbd

  • Any recent changes to your system, network, or SABnzbd configuration
