Newsbin Pro Setup

Newsbin Pro is a feature-rich Windows-based newsreader application for accessing Usenet newsgroups. Follow the steps below to configure Newsbin Pro with your Easynews account.

Step 1: Get Newsbin Pro

Newsbin Pro is a paid application. It costs $20 for the standard version and $30 for the version with integrated Usenet search. A 15-day trial may be available from the official Newsbin site. Download the Windows installer.

Step 2: Install the Application

Once the installer is downloaded, run it and follow the on-screen prompts to install Newsbin Pro on your Windows system. During installation, you will be prompted to enter your server details. This includes the server name, server address, and your Easynews username and password. You can find these details in Step 3 below. Once installation is complete, launch the program to continue configuration.

Step 3: Add Easynews as a Server

You will be prompted to configure a server during initial setup. If not, go to Options > Servers and add a new server manually. Use the following settings:

  1. Server Name: Easynews

  1. Server Address: news.easynews.com

  2. SSL: Enabled (check the SSL box)

  3. Port: 563

  1. Username: Your Easynews username

  2. Password: Your Easynews password

  1. Connections: Set to the maximum supported by your plan (up to 60)

Save your settings when done.

Step 4: Configure Group List and Refresh Options

From the main window, click on the button that looks like two arrows pointing at one another that says "Download the Latest Group Updates" when you hover over it to fetch a full list of available newsgroups. Once the list is retrieved, you can subscribe to the groups you're interested in.

Step 5: Finish Setup

Once your server settings and groups are configured, Newsbin Pro is ready for Usenet access. You can now browse, search, and access articles from Easynews with full support for secure connections and high article retention.
