502 Authentication Failed Error – Easynews Troubleshooting Guide
If you see a 502 Authentication Failed error while accessing Easynews, it usually means there is an issue with your username or password. Below are the most common causes and how to resolve them.
1. Double-Check Your Login Credentials
This error typically appears when the username or password entered does not match the account on record. Make sure:
-
The correct username and password are being used.
-
There are no extra spaces before or after your login details.
-
Caps Lock is not accidentally turned on.
You can reset your password at the Easynews Password Reset Page and look up your username on the Easynews Username Lookup Page.
2. Account Status
If your subscription has expired or your account is temporarily suspended, authentication requests may be rejected. Log in to the Easynews Control Panel to check your status and update your payment details if needed.
3. Server Address Configuration
Make sure you're connecting to the correct server address:
-
NNTP Server Address:
news.easynews.com
-
Port Numbers:
-
SSL: 563 or 443
-
Non-SSL: 119 or 80
-
Using incorrect server settings can lead to failed login attempts.
4. Too Many Simultaneous Connections
If you're using more connections than your plan allows, the server may temporarily deny authentication. Check your newsreader settings and reduce the number of active connections to match your account limit.
5. Wait and Retry
Too many failed attempts in a short period may result in temporary login blocks. Wait a few minutes and try again.
