Easynews + SABnzbd: Setup Help and Troubleshooting Guide
Easynews users who prefer a local automation tool often turn to SABnzbd for its flexibility and Web-based controls. Once linked with your Easynews NNTP server, it automates access to articles using NZB files from your preferred Indexer.
Key Interface Sections
-
Queue: Tracks current jobs
-
History: Shows completed and failed items
-
Config: Set server, port, and Indexer settings
-
Connections: Adjust threads and ports for optimal throughput
Troubleshooting Tips
Repair Freeze
If SABnzbd stalls during repair, open your task manager and terminate the par2
process. The blocked article will fail, and the queue will resume. This issue can occur when a damaged article is unrecoverable.
Queue Not Progressing
Check the following:
-
Easynews NNTP server details are correct
-
Username and password match your Easynews credentials
-
Indexer API is still active
-
Your port isn’t blocked by a firewall or VPN
Speed Optimization
Use SSL (port 563) for encrypted connections or try port 119 for plaintext. Adjust the number of simultaneous connections based on your Easynews plan and Internet performance.
Unpacking Errors
When unpacking fails, go to the History tab, view the detailed error, and consider turning off strict verification or using an external repair tool.
