Easynews SABnzbd Folder Structure Explained

Assigning Folder Roles in SABnzbd

SABnzbd allows flexible path configuration for staging, processing, and completion. A well-structured setup helps simplify your automation.

Typical Folder Designations

  • Completed: Finished items go here.

  • Temporary: Used during article assembly.

  • Watch Folder: SABnzbd scans this for incoming NZBs.

Set Up in the Interface

Go to Config > Folders and input the full directory locations for each type. Use absolute, not relative, paths.

Common Path Formats

  • Windows: C:\Easynews\Complete

  • macOS/Linux: /Users/yourname/easynews/complete

Other Directories You Can Customize

  • Admin Folder: Tracks processing history.

  • Log Folder: Holds event logs and debug information.

Retention Visibility in SABnzbd

The program shows estimated article retention, but actual access is set by your Usenet provider. Easynews offers one of the largest article retention spans available.

Tuning Post-Processing and PAR2 Behavior

QuickCheck minimizes the use of PAR2 data unless a repair is needed. If you'd rather have SABnzbd retrieve all recovery blocks automatically, enable that under Settings > Switches > Post Processing.

Processing Mode Breakdown

  • Blank: No processing.

  • R: Checks and repairs.

  • U: Checks, repairs, unpacks.

  • D: Full process and cleanup.

Resolving a Stuck Repair Process

If the repair process freezes:

  1. Open your operating system’s task manager.

  2. Terminate the par2 process. Once stopped, SABnzbd will fail the item. You may reprocess or handle it manually.
