Performance Tuning for SABnzbd

Optimize SABnzbd for better speed and stability when using Easynews by reviewing these configuration tips.

1. Use SSL and Optimal Ports

In SABnzbd, go to Settings > Servers and check that:

  • Host: news.easynews.com

  • Port: 563

  • SSL: Checked

  • Connections: Try starting at 20 and adjusting as needed. Easynews supports up to 60.

2. Keep SABnzbd Up to Date for Compatibility

Older versions may not support current protocols or bug fixes. Make sure you're running the latest stable release of SABnzbd for best performance.

3. Reduce Network Traffic from Other Apps

Other applications using bandwidth may impact SABnzbd. Close active Web streams, large transfers, or cloud syncs during use.

4. Disable IPv6 If Connection Stability Is a Concern

Try disabling IPv6 in your system by going to Settings > Special > Switches or router if performance seems erratic. This can resolve connectivity slowdowns.

5. Use a Wired Connection Instead of Wi-Fi

For a more stable and faster connection, connect your SABnzbd device directly via Ethernet.

6. Monitor Indexer and Automation Timing

If SABnzbd depends on automated Indexers, delays in fetching articles may cause slowness. Review and test your Indexer connections.

7. Fine-Tune SABnzbd Queue and Post-Processing

Disable features that aren't needed under Settings > Switches. Streamlining these can speed up article handling.

8. Raise Article Cache Limit If RAM Allows

Raise the cache limit in Settings > General > Tuning if your system has free memory. This reduces reliance on disk writes.

9. Reduce SABnzbd Logging Detail

  • Click the wrench icon from the main SABnzbd window.
  • Adjust log verbosity to "+info" to reduce processing overhead from excessive log entries.

10. Store Temporary Data on SSD

Using an SSD for SABnzbd’s temporary storage directories can significantly increase responsiveness.
