Moving Your Newsbin Configuration

If you’re switching computers, here’s how to carry over your complete Newsbin setup:

  1. Download and Install: Begin by installing Newsbin on the new computer. Easynews-compatible licenses allow up to three installations.

  2. Data Directory Copy: Under Options > Setup, identify the DATA folder. Copy it to your new device.

  3. Preserve the Layout: Transfer Guiitems.db3 to your new system’s C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\newsbin directory.

  4. Locate the .NBI Configuration File: This file includes all settings. Launch Newsbin by double-clicking it to load your saved preferences.

  5. Changing the Newsbin Data Folder location:

    • Find the current configuration file name in the title bar or use "Save Configuration As."

    • Identify the existing Data folder via the "Open Data Folder" button under Options > Setup.

    • Exit Newsbin.

    • Use Notepad or another editor to modify the .NBI file. Make a backup first.

    • Under [Settings], edit the DataPath entry to reflect the new path.

    • Move all contents from the old Data folder to the new location.

    • Double-click the .NBI file to launch Newsbin using the updated folder.

  6. Launch Once via .NBI: After the first launch using the .NBI file, the configuration will be remembered by Newsbin.

Reminder: Already queued items use their original path. Manually right-click each to update via "Download to Folder."
