Moving Your Newsbin Configuration
If you’re switching computers, here’s how to carry over your complete Newsbin setup:
-
Download and Install: Begin by installing Newsbin on the new computer. Easynews-compatible licenses allow up to three installations.
-
Data Directory Copy: Under Options > Setup, identify the DATA folder. Copy it to your new device.
-
Preserve the Layout: Transfer Guiitems.db3 to your new system’s
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\newsbin
directory. -
Locate the .NBI Configuration File: This file includes all settings. Launch Newsbin by double-clicking it to load your saved preferences.
-
Changing the Newsbin Data Folder location:
-
Find the current configuration file name in the title bar or use "Save Configuration As."
-
Identify the existing Data folder via the "Open Data Folder" button under Options > Setup.
-
Exit Newsbin.
-
Use Notepad or another editor to modify the .NBI file. Make a backup first.
-
Under [Settings], edit the
DataPath
entry to reflect the new path. -
Move all contents from the old Data folder to the new location.
-
Double-click the .NBI file to launch Newsbin using the updated folder.
-
-
Launch Once via .NBI: After the first launch using the .NBI file, the configuration will be remembered by Newsbin.
Reminder: Already queued items use their original path. Manually right-click each to update via "Download to Folder."
