What to Do if Port 119 is Blocked

Port 119 is a default for non-encrypted NNTP traffic, but it’s not uncommon for ISPs or network firewalls to restrict it. If you’re experiencing issues, switching to a different port is typically all that’s needed.

Easynews supports the following alternate ports:

  • Non-SSL: 23, 80, 8000

  • SSL: 443, 563, 8080

To update your connection settings, navigate to your newsreader or application’s server configuration and choose an available port.

If using SSL, make sure the SSL option is enabled to keep your traffic encrypted.
