Easynews SABnzbd Setup Guide

SABnzbd is a popular Usenet automation tool that works with NZBs from any Usenet Indexer. This guide walks through the process of configuring SABnzbd to access Usenet through Easynews. Start by downloading the latest version of SABnzbd.

Step 1: Launch the SABnzbd Setup Wizard

When SABnzbd opens for the first time, it will launch its configuration wizard in your default Web browser.

Step 2: Select Your Language

Choose your preferred language and click Start Wizard.

Step 3: Enter Easynews Server Information

Use the following settings to connect to Easynews:

  • Server: news.easynews.com
  • Username: Your username received in the confirmation email
  • Password: Your username received in the confirmation email
  • SSL: This can be toggled on and off depending on your preferences. The setting will toggle the Port number automatically.
  • Port: This parameter will automatically set from the SSL toggle. If you have another port you’d like to use, enter it here.
  • Connections: You’ll enter the amount of connections offered here from the confirmation email. If you aren’t sure, we’d recommend starting with 20.
  • Certificate Verification: We recommend leaving this option on Strict, though you can set to Minimal should you run into issues. Note that this will only be affected if SSL is used.

Click Test Server to verify the settings. If the test is successful, click Next.

  • Should you see an error code, double check the information entered for any errors. Should the issue persist, you can reach out to our Support Team, with the error code provided, for further assistance.
  • Click the “Next” button to finalize your settings.
  • The client should now be configured and ready for use! You’ll see your default download paths displayed here, as well as the link you’ll use to interface with SABnzbd through your browser.
  • Click the “Go to SABnzbd” to finish setup and begin using the service!

Step 4: Add a New Server (If Needed)

If you need to add or modify Easynews server details after the initial setup, go to Settings > Servers in the SABnzbd interface. Click Add Server, then enter the same Easynews settings:

Click Add Server, then enter the same Easynews settings:

  • Server Description: A simple name so you can identify the server details

  • Host: news.easynews.com

  • Port: 563

  • SSL: Checked

  • Username and Password: Your Easynews credentials

You can also adjust the number of connections here. Easynews supports up to 60.

Press the “Test Server” button and make sure the “Connection Successful!” text appears.

  • Should you see an error code, double check the information entered for any errors. Should the issue persist, you can reach out to our Support Team, with the error code provided, for further assistance.
  • Select “Save Changes” to finalize the settings and verify the server is checked under “Enabled”.

Step 6: Finalize Setup

Choose a name for your SABnzbd instance and finish the wizard. SABnzbd will now load the main dashboard.
