Why do I need an e-mail server to post?
Some newsreader applications, such as Agent, require configuring an email server before permitting posts. This requirement exists because certain newsreaders also function as email clients.
If you do not intend to use your client for email purposes, inputting an invalid server address like "noserver.invalid.com" will suffice.
Many newsreaders offer the option to configure an email server but do not mandate it. In such cases, leaving the field blank is acceptable.
It's important to distinguish between an NNTP server and an email server. An NNTP server facilitates reading and posting in Usenet newsgroups, whereas an email server manages the sending and receiving of emails through an email client.
