What is Global Search 2.0?

Global Search 2.0 is the default search engine for Easynews users. Existing users can enable it manually through their account preferences.

Easynews Interfaces

Easynews offers three HTTPS interfaces: Vintage Easynews, Easynews 2.0, and the default interface simply called Easynews. New users begin with the Easynews interface, which features a modern design and improved performance. However, users can switch to a different interface by clicking the icon in the top right of the main screen, selecting "Preferences," then navigating to General → Preferred Interface and choosing their preferred option.

Key Features of Global Search 2.0

• Stemming: Keywords and subject fields are processed using stemming, which breaks down terms to their root forms. For example, a search for "running" will return matches for "run," "runs," "running," and "run's."

• Spam Filter: A configurable Spam Filter excludes items posted more than 100 times, including crossposts.

• Faster Results: The engine handles more queries per second, with results returning about four times faster on average.

Additional Details

• All fields (except 'groups') are case-insensitive.

• Sorting options include: Relevance, Extension, Size, Date & Time, Filename, Video Codec, Audio Codec, Image Size, A/V Length, Bitrate, Sample Rate, and Frames Per Second.

• A "Collapse Sets" option is available for grouping related results.
